Dusting off the old gumboots

Breathtaking view from Doolhof's Sauvignon Blanc block
Yes, I am actually writing a second entry. Apologies for the ridiculous long absence!

To tell you the truth, I never imagined my little company would last 6 months - and here I am, 1 year and 5 months down the line with 3 key clients that keep me busier than I've ever been. Wow...its great to be self employed.

2013 was a blast, from winning gold and double gold awards for Rosendal to visiting the States with Eighth Wonder Wines. I'll write and post pics about these highlights soon. But first some good news...I'll be dusting off my old gumboots and getting down and dirty again this harvest while sharing all the crazy stories and pics on my blog. Doolhof Winery will be my resident cellar in 2014 and I am beyond thrilled to be part of the team again for the next few months.

Sauvignon Blanc Beauties
16.4 Balling...not quite there yet
Hendrik and I took the first grape samples yesterday. Both the Sauvignon blanc and the Chardonnay look mighty fine and we will probably start picking around 10 days time. Like always, the vineyards are immaculate - a true reflection of Hendrik's commitment and attention to detail. All efforts are now focused on getting the cellar squeaky clean and in tip-top shape before our first grapes arrive. I can't wait...
